The year 2025 is drawing to a close, and we're preparing for the Christmas break so we can start 2026 with renewed energy.
How did it go for us? What successes and failures did we experience? What were our key topics?
Algae Oil Powder
This year, we launched our first own product: our algae oil powder with 20% DHA and 10% EPA, which we also intended to be encapsulated. The idea was fantastic, there was a lot of interest, and we invested in the first test production run.
The result was sobering, as the powder didn't flow properly and couldn't be processed as desired. In short: an expensive failure – before the product was even on the market.
That hurt. Time, money, energy – invested and lost. And yet, it was one of the most important lessons for us as raw materials specialists:
Raw material quality ≠ direct product feasibility
Just because a raw material is analytically top-notch doesn't mean it can be processed technologically in the way you'd like.
Mistakes are data
We analyzed precisely why the project failed – and this knowledge strengthens our consulting and customer service today.
Failure is part of the process
When you try something new, things sometimes go wrong. And sometimes the "expensive mistakes" are the ones we learn the most from.
This experience made it clear to us why we do what we do:
We help our customers not only with purchasing, but also with finding and evaluating the right raw materials – and identifying risks early on.
Matcha - the green gold
One of the products we were most frequently asked about was organic matcha powder – ideally of the highest quality – yet still reasonably priced.
We have invested a tremendous amount of time, resources, and energy into this product and qualified several suppliers. However, the market remains challenging due to limited availability and extremely high prices.
By the way, we currently have small quantities of organic matcha powder available. Please feel free to contact us.
Novel Food
Novel foods are foods or ingredients that were not commonly consumed in the EU before May 15, 1997. They require a safety assessment and approval by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) before being placed on the market.
Especially when it comes to products with high, standardized levels of active ingredients or when new extraction methods are used, the line between a product and a novel food can be very thin.
Animal Feed
We have also become increasingly involved with animal feed, as the market continues to grow and we were able to extend our organic certification to include animal feed this year.
We have also gained considerable knowledge in this area and have qualified many exciting products.
You can now send us your pet food inquiries to petfood@plants2market.com .
Thank you
An exciting year is drawing to a close, and we would like to thank our customers and partners for a successful 2025. We wish you wonderful and relaxing holidays and look forward to an exciting 2026.
